A fac simile of the famous 1653 first edition of 'The Compleat Angler Or The Contemplative Man's Recreation' and sub-titled 'Contemplative Man's Recreation Being A Discourse On Rivers, Fish-Ponds, Fish And Fishing'. This is a halfbound copy that was published by Henry Washbourne in 1842. Full of illustrations, frontis of Cotton. Bookplate of Edgar Blackstock and one other to inside cover and ffep. Externally very good, more recent cover with brown leather and green boards with gilt strips between, raised bands to spine with gilt titles and decorations of fish and tackle. A lovely edition in vg condition.
